Be Specific
Vague instructions produce vague results. Be specific about what you want:
- Vague: "Make it professional"
- Specific: "Use formal language, avoid contractions, cite sources with links"
Prioritize Key Requirements
Put your most important requirements first. AI gives more weight to instructions at the beginning.
Test and Iterate
Generate a few test articles and refine your instructions based on results. Small adjustments can significantly improve output quality.
Avoid Contradictions
Don't include conflicting instructions like "be brief" and "include comprehensive detail."
What to Include
- Tone and voice – Formal, casual, technical, etc.
- Audience – Who the content is for
- Brand mentions – How to reference your products/services
- Formatting – Paragraph length, list usage, etc.
- Content to include – CTAs, specific points, examples
- Content to avoid – Competitors, certain topics, etc.
What to Avoid
- Too many instructions – Keep it focused (100-200 words is ideal)
- Overly restrictive rules – Leave room for AI creativity
- Technical jargon – Use plain language the AI can interpret
- Vague requests – "Make it good" doesn't help
