Why Articles Might Not Match Your Expectations
If your AI-generated articles aren't quite right – wrong tone, missing key points, too shallow, or just "off" from what you wanted – you're not alone. The good news is that Sight AI gives you complete control over how content is generated.
This guide walks through every customization option available, from quick fixes to comprehensive AI training. By the end, you'll have articles that sound exactly like your brand.
Quick Diagnostic Checklist
Before diving into customization, check these common causes:
- Have you set up Business Info? Without this, AI doesn't know your company, products, or audience
- Have you added any custom instructions? Default behavior is generic
- Is your keyword clear? Vague keywords produce vague content
- Did you choose the right article type? Listicle, Explainer, and Step-by-Step have different structures
Your 5 Levels of Control
Sight AI provides multiple layers of customization. Each level builds on the previous:
| Level | What It Does | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Business Info | Tells AI about your company, products, audience | Brand context in every article |
| 2. Team Instructions | Global rules for all content across all sites | Brand voice, tone, universal rules |
| 3. Site Instructions | Rules specific to one site | Different brand voices per site |
| 4. Agent Instructions | Customize each AI agent individually | Fine-tuned control over specific aspects |
| 5. Article Instructions | One-off instructions for a single article | Special requirements for specific content |
Step 1: Set Up Your Business Info
This is the most important step. Without Business Info, the AI is essentially guessing about your company.
To configure:
- Go to AI Agents in your dashboard
- Click the "Business Info" tab
- Fill out all fields:
- Company Name: Your business name as you want it mentioned
- Industry: Your business sector (e.g., "B2B SaaS", "E-commerce", "Healthcare")
- Target Audience: Who reads your content (e.g., "Marketing managers at mid-sized companies")
- Brand Voice: How you want to sound (e.g., "Professional but friendly, no jargon")
- Key Products/Services: What you offer that should be mentioned
- Unique Selling Points: What makes you different from competitors
Result: Every article will now understand your business context and naturally incorporate your products and value propositions.
Step 2: Add Team Instructions (Global Rules)
Team instructions apply to ALL content generated across ALL your sites. Use these for your core brand guidelines.
To configure:
- Go to AI Agents → "Team Instructions" tab
- Enter your global content guidelines
- Save changes
Example Team Instructions
TONE & VOICE:
- Write in a friendly, conversational tone
- Use "you" to address readers directly
- Avoid corporate jargon – explain terms if used
- Be confident but not arrogant
STRUCTURE:
- Use short paragraphs (2-3 sentences maximum)
- Include bullet points for lists of 3+ items
- Add a key takeaway at the end of major sections
BRAND MENTIONS:
- Mention [Your Product Name] naturally when relevant
- Never mention competitors by name
- Always link to our product pages when discussing solutions
CONTENT STANDARDS:
- Include real-world examples in every article
- Back up claims with data or research
- Provide actionable takeaways readers can implementStep 3: Add Site-Level Instructions (Optional)
If you manage multiple sites with different brand voices, use site-level instructions to customize content for each site separately.
To configure:
- Go to Site Settings
- Find "AI Content Settings"
- Enter site-specific instructions
- Save changes
Site instructions add to team instructions – they don't replace them.
Step 4: Customize Individual AI Agents
This is where you get precise control. Sight AI uses a team of specialized agents, each handling a different aspect of content creation. You can customize each one individually.
Your AI Content Team
| Agent | What They Control | Customize When... |
|---|---|---|
| 🔍 Research Specialist | Topic research, data gathering | Content lacks depth or uses wrong sources |
| 📋 Content Strategist | Article structure, sections, flow | Articles are missing sections or poorly organized |
| ✍️ Content Writer | Writing style, tone, headings | Tone is wrong, writing doesn't match your voice |
| 👁️ Quality Editor | Review, accuracy, consistency | Articles have repetition or quality issues |
| 📈 SEO Optimizer | Keywords, optimization, readability | SEO feels unnatural or keywords are misplaced |
| 💡 Headline Specialist | Titles, meta descriptions | Headlines are clickbait-y or don't match style |

To customize an agent:

- Save changes
Agent-Specific Instruction Examples

Write in a casual, conversational tone like you're explaining to a friend.
Use contractions (it's, you're, don't).
Avoid formal phrases like "it is important to note" or "one must consider".
Use Title Case for all H2 and H3 headings.
Keep paragraphs to 3 sentences maximum.Content Strategist (for structure issues):
Always include these sections:
1. Quick summary (TL;DR) at the top
2. Main content with practical examples
3. Common mistakes to avoid
4. Key takeaways
5. FAQ section with 3-5 questions
Never include generic "conclusion" sections – end with takeaways instead.Research Specialist (for depth/accuracy issues):
Focus on B2B SaaS examples and case studies.
Prioritize recent data (last 2 years).
Include specific statistics and percentages when available.
Look for expert quotes or industry research to cite.SEO Optimizer (for keyword issues):
Place the primary keyword in the first 100 words naturally.
Don't force keywords – readability is more important.
Include related terms but never at the expense of natural writing.Headline Specialist (for title issues):
Keep titles under 60 characters.
Never use clickbait tactics like "You Won't Believe..."
Include the year in titles for time-sensitive topics.
Start with action verbs when appropriate (How to, Guide to, etc.)Step 5: Use Article-Level Instructions for One-Offs
For specific articles that need unique requirements, add article-level instructions during generation.
To use:
- Click "Generate Article"
- Enter your keyword and select article type
- Expand "Custom Instructions" (below the form)
- Enter article-specific requirements
- Generate the article
Article instructions add to all other instructions – they're applied on top of team, site, and agent settings.
Common Problems & Solutions
Problem: Tone Doesn't Match My Brand
Symptoms: Articles sound too formal, too casual, or generic
Solution:
- Go to AI Agents → Team Instructions
- Add clear tone guidelines with examples
- Also customize the Content Writer agent for more control

of 'users' or 'the company'. Imagine you're writing an email to a smart
colleague who's new to this topic."Problem: Content is Too Shallow
Symptoms: Articles lack depth, miss key points, or feel generic
Solution:
- Customize the Research Specialist: "Dive deep into this topic. Include specific examples, statistics, and expert insights."
- Customize the Content Writer: "Our audience has intermediate knowledge – don't explain basic concepts."
- Use more specific keywords (e.g., "advanced Python decorators" instead of "Python tips")
Problem: Wrong Article Structure
Symptoms: Missing sections, FAQ when you don't want it, wrong organization
Solution:
- Customize the Content Strategist
- Be explicit: "Always include a TL;DR at the top" or "Never add a FAQ section unless the user requests it"

- Fill out Business Info completely (especially Key Products)
- Add to Team Instructions: "When relevant, mention [Product Name] as a solution to the problem discussed."

Problem: SEO Feels Unnatural
Symptoms: Keywords stuffed awkwardly, content feels over-optimized
Solution:
- Customize the SEO Optimizer

- For custom CTAs, enter the link text and URL
- Save changes
CTAs are automatically woven into your content naturally in the conclusion.
Best Practices for AI Training
Be Specific, Not Vague
- Bad: "Make it sound professional"
- Good: "Use formal language, avoid contractions, cite sources with inline links"
Include Examples
- Bad: "Use a good headline style"
- Good: "Headlines should be like: 'How to [Achieve X] in [Timeframe]: A Complete Guide'"
Prioritize Key Requirements
Put your most important requirements at the top. AI gives more weight to earlier instructions.
Test and Iterate
Generate a test article after making changes. Review it, then refine your instructions based on what still needs improvement.
Don't Contradict Yourself
- Bad: "Be concise" + "Include comprehensive detail on every topic"
- Good: "Be comprehensive on key concepts but concise on supporting details"
Keep Instructions Focused
100-300 words of instructions is usually ideal. Too many instructions can cause conflicts or dilute the most important ones.
Still Not Right? Use the Content Editor
After generation, you can refine any article with the AI Content Editor:
- Highlight any text and ask AI to rewrite it
- Regenerate sections that don't meet your standards
- Ask for changes in natural language ("Make this more casual", "Add an example here")
- Add, remove, or reorganize content manually
The Content Editor learns from your edits over time, so future articles will better match your preferences.
