Overview

SEO Suite → Backlinks (/seo/backlinks) is a real index of the pages that link to the selected site, plus the profile around it: what is new, what was lost, which domains link most, which anchor texts they use, and which domains look toxic enough to disavow.
Included from Pro. On Pro and Business the first pull runs on its own right after a site is added, so the page opens with data instead of an empty Refresh prompt.

The tiles

The Link profile card has seven tabs. Every tab has a search box, sortable columns and a CSV export of the whole table. Live, New and Lost can be filtered to Dofollow only or Nofollow only. Anchors can be filtered by kind, Toxic by review status.

How the index is built

A refresh indexes one link per referring domain, strongest first, up to the per-site cap (5,000 links by default). This is the default mode: one page per domain keeps the list readable and the cost down. Refresh all links indexes every link instead (the “as is” mode). It costs more, so it only runs when you click it, never on the schedule. A refresh also pulls the summary numbers, the recently lost links, the monthly new and lost series for the last 24 months, the top anchors, the strongest referring domains and their spam scores. The refresh runs in the background; the page updates itself within a minute or two.

Anchors

Anchor texts are classified against the site’s brand name and aliases (from your AI Search setup, with the site name as a fallback) and the site’s tracked keywords:
  • Branded: contains the brand name, an alias or the site name.
  • Exact match: equals one of the site’s tracked keywords.
  • Generic: “click here”, “website”, “read more” and the like.
  • URL: a bare domain or a full URL.
  • Other: everything else, including image links with no anchor text.
The anchor mix on the Profile tab notes when exact-match anchors pass 30% of links, which looks manipulated to Google’s link-spam systems, and when branded anchors lead, which is what a natural profile looks like.

Domain rank and spam score

Domain rank is shown on a 0 to 100 scale for the site, for every referring page’s domain and for every referring domain. The Profile tab groups referring domains into 0 to 9, 10 to 29, 30 to 59, 60 to 99 and 100, and reports the share at 30 or more: those are the links that move rankings. Spam score runs from 0 to 100. The site’s own score sits under the Domain rank tile; each referring domain carries its own.

Toxic review and the disavow file

A referring domain lands on the Toxic tab when:
  • its spam score is 60 or more, or
  • it sends 50 or more links to the site, all on an exact-match anchor, which reads as a sitewide paid placement.
Mark each one Reviewed, Keep or Disavow. Reviews survive later refreshes. When at least one domain is marked Disavow, the disavow.txt button downloads a file in Google’s format (one domain: line per domain) ready for the disavow tool in Search Console. Sight never sends anything to Google itself. An alert at the top of the page counts the domains still waiting for a review.

Refresh schedule and cooldown

  • Weekly. Every Monday at 04:00 UTC the backlink index and profile refresh for every Pro and Business site. A site nobody has opened an SEO page for in 30 days sits the weekly run out until someone opens it again.
  • New sites. On Pro and Business the first pull is queued automatically as soon as the site is configured after being added, and again when a plan moves up to Pro or Business.
  • On demand. The Refresh button runs the same pull now. It can run again once the previous one is older than the plan’s gap: 6 hours on Pro, 2 hours on Business (1 hour on Enterprise). Inside the gap the button answers with when the next refresh is possible; scheduled refreshes keep running meanwhile.
  • Daily data budget. Each site has a daily budget for link and keyword lookups. If it runs out mid-refresh, what was fetched is kept and the rest waits for the next run.
The Refreshed stamp next to the buttons shows when the last pull finished.

Alerts

Two SEO alert rules read this index: New backlink fires when a domain at or above a chosen rank starts linking in the last 7 days, and Backlinks lost when referring pages from strong domains stop linking. Both rules start off; turn them on under Settings → Site → SEO Alerts.
  • Broken links to reclaim and new link prospects live on Link building (Business).
  • Monthly backlink and referring domain history over your plan’s window is on the Overview trend charts; see History.
  • Competitors’ backlink counts and domain ranks sit next to yours on Competitors.
